EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)

April 10, 2018

Dr. Mario Martinez on EFT:

Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT, is a psycho-sensory technique I routinely use in my practice and most highly recommend to optimize your emotional health. Although it is still often overlooked, emotional health is absolutely essential to your physical health and healing - no matter how devoted you are to the proper diet and lifestyle, you will not achieve your body's ideal healing and preventative powers if emotional barriers stand in your way.

EFT is very easy to learn, and will help you:

  • Reduce Food Cravings

  • Reduce or Eliminate Pain

  • Reduce or eliminate Grief

  • Reduce or eliminate Anxiety

  • Reduce or eliminate Phobias

  • Implement Positive Goals

And in general it's applied to all diseases that have as main underlying cause the emotion.

EFT is a form of psychological acupressure, based on the same energy meridians used in traditional acupuncture to treat physical and emotional ailments for over five thousand years, but without the invasiveness of needles. Instead, simple tapping with the fingertips is used to input kinetic energy onto specific meridians on the head and chest while you think about your specific problem - whether it is a traumatic event, an addiction, pain, etc. -- and voice positive affirmations.

EFT Tapping or the emotional freedom technique is a personal development technique approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) and is like acupuncture but without the needles. In simple terms, acupuncture points are tapped while the mind focuses on change.

EFT is always evolving and BWC & S offers the latest advances in this therapy to its clients to make their application faster and more effective.

EFT Tapping is recommended by Dr. Deepak Chopra, Dr. Wayne Dyer, Dr. Bruce Lipton Phd, Dr. Mercola, David Lynch Foundation, Bob Proctor and many more masters of success.

My path in the field of personal transformation began in 70's with the reading of the book Psycho Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz, a rare book from that time that talked about how to transform the "personal image", I was about 12 years old. From there I launched into a frantic search for trying to understand my mind and how to change it.

This search encompasses fields as diverse as literature, philosophy, poetry and of course psychology. I went from one thing to the other: Krishnamurti's books, Alan Watts's philosophy, Psychoanalysis, Cognitive Psychology, Fritz Perls's works, Neuro-linguistic Programming, John Bradshaw's Inner’s Child, Jampolsky's work on forgiveness , Richard Carlson, Hypnosis, The Pathwork Method, Zen, Buddhism, Advaita Philosophy, and other issues I can remember now.

Always in a renewed mood, hoping that things would work, I set about finding a paradigm that would allow me to find freedom that I had always longed for, and I always got a small but insufficient reward. Nothing that will fulfill my expectations.

My career was developed in parallel with the world of sales, working as a Sales Director in different companies, including the transnational Reader's Digest. As everyone knows the sale is a fertile field for the application of ideas of this type and the salesmen who worked for me, were the "victims" of my experimentation with techniques such as Neuro-Linguistic Programming and Ericksonian Hypnosis.

From childhood I have been an avid reader and a passionate experimenter of mental processes, of visualization, of thought, of dreams. I have always been fascinated by the idea of changing people and myself by doing some "magic passes".

Five years ago I cherished the idea of becoming a therapist and lecturer and then, a couple of years ago I made my first experiences with EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques). And was amazed at its potential. From there, everything has developed quickly. From EFT I went to Fastereft (a more effective and elegant method that incorporates elements of Neuro-Linguistic Programming), and from there came the idea of developing my own technique.

Spend many months experimenting with these innovative techniques and those I learned earlier. This Technique Happening resumes this previous experience and adds the powerful resolution that prints the Milton Erickson system. Erickson is an American psychiatrist and hypnologist, who developed a series of language patterns that make it easier to accept the process of change unconsciously. That is, it removes the resistance to change by presenting valid options that can be accepted by the person who does not feel safe leaving behind his old and painful strategy because he does not know another.

Happening is also based on the most recent findings of Psychosensory Therapy. According to the findings of Dr. Ronald Ruden, detailed in his book When Past is Always Present, the stimulation of certain areas of the body generates the production of serotonin and releases tension. These results have been tested in thousands of patients with surprising results. Incorporating this information and using EFT’S conceptual framework, I developed Happening.

Happening like its predecessors, it applies to a great variety of problems: Treatment of pain, mourning, anxiety, overweight, fears of all kinds, and in general to all diseases that have emotion as the main underlying cause. It is very useful for those who are stuck and look for the impulse and the guide to restart their lives.

But Happening has a spiritual background and is not only useful for immediate change, it is a therapy that offers a spiritual transformation for those who wish to. And for this it uses the philosophical concepts of Sydney Banks, Krishnamurti and Jorge Lomar.

Happening is an elegant and powerful tool that has the virtue of generating changes beyond the specifics of the problem at hand. It produces an understanding aura that expands over time and generates profound changes over time.
